PASTOR ADEBOYE FALSE CLAIM: THE BIBLE OR HIS CLAIM, WHICH IS TRUE?

One of the most respected Pentecostal Pastor in Nigeria, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, during a private prayer session with the family of late Chief (Mrs.) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo at their Ikenne country home, said confidently that,

“By the special grace of God and because of my interaction with Mama (Mrs Awolowo), I have no doubt at all that she is in HEAVEN now.” (see. www.vanguardngr.com/2015/ive-no-doubt-hid-is-in-heaven-says-pastor-adeboye/)

According to Vanguard News, “Pastor Enoch Adeboye, yesterday (24/11/2105) declared that he is confident that the matriarch of the Awolowo family . . . is resting with the Lord.”

Could this be true? Is Late Mrs. Awolowo truly in Heaven as the so-called man of God confidently declared publicly? Should we accept the word of Pastor Adeboye or the Bible? Where do we go to when we die? Does the Bible say anything about this?

Let us compare Pastor Adeboye’s claim with Bible. For the Bible warns us,

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try (or test) the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1.

I am not writing this article to condemn any one, but according to the Scripture we were warned to test every teaching in the light of God’s word if they be from God or from Satan.

WHERE DO WE GO WHEN WE DIE?

We will ask ourselves some questions and we will allow the Bible to answer.

  1. Where do we go when we die?

“Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.” Job 21:32 (KJV)

“What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.” Psalms 89:48 (KJV)

“I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.” Isaiah 38:10 (KJV)

Answer: Man goes to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb

  1. The wicked are kept in their graves until they are resurrected for what purpose?

“That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.” Job 21:30

“So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.” Job 14:12

Answer: The Wicked will not awake from the grave until the day of wrath (Judgment).

  1. Like Job, the righteous dead are to wait in the grave until what takes place?

“Oh, that You would hide me in the grave. That You would conceal me until Your wrath is past, that You would appoint me a set time, and remember me! If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, till my change comes.” Job 12:13-14 (NKJV)

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed,  in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” 1 Cor 15:51-52 (ASV)

Answer: The righteous will remain in the grave until Christ calls them from the grave and gives them an immortal body.

If truly Mrs. Awolowo is in Heaven as Pastor Adeboye claimed, then God must have given her an immortal flesh. But we all know that Mrs. Awolowo’s body remains in the grave with a corruptible, mortal flesh because no Man or Woman can enter heaven with a mortal corruptible flesh.

  1. They that are Christ’s will be given life at what great event?

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.” 1 Cor 15:22-23 (KJV)

Answer: At Christ second coming the dead shall be given eternal life.

  1. What about David, the man after God’s own heart, where is he now and what has happened to him after death?

“For David did not ascended into the heavens” Acts 2:34 (NKJV)

“Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.” Acts 2:29

“For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers, and underwent decay” Acts 13:36 (NASB77)

Answer: According to the Bible, David, the righteous, has not ascended to heaven, he is in the grave unto this day and his flesh has undergone decay.

But we read above from pastor Adeboye that Mrs. Awolowo is now in heaven. If David, whom God regard has the holy one, did not ascend to heaven after death, should we think Mrs. Awolowo, after death, will be in heaven presently? I leave you to answer that.

  1. How will God wake up the righteous death?

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first” 1 Thess 4:16 (KJV)

“And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matt 24:31 (KJV)

Answer: Christ shall wake the dead in Christ (Righteous) with the Trumpet of His voice.

Only God can regard anyone righteous. He has not given any mortal man, be it ur level of spirituality, the right to regard any one Holy or righteous. If Mrs. Awolowo had truly lived a righteous life, then Christ will raise her from the grave, with the shout (Trumpet) of His voice when He comes the second time. Until the resurrection morning, the dead wait in the grave. Job said, ”If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.” Job 17:13

Even Christ gave us the exact place where the dead are presently:

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice” John 5:28 (KJV)

All that are in the grave will hear Christ voice both the dead in Christ (Righteous) and dead in Sin (Sinners).

  1. How does Christ, David, Paul regard a person that has died?

“These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.” John 11:11-13 (KJV)

“Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.” Psalms 13:3 (KJV)

“After that, he (Christ) was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.” 1 Cor 15:6 (KJV)

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.” 1 Thess 4:13-15 (KJV)

Death is nothing but Sleep.

If Good people like, Mrs. Awolowo, go to heaven when they die they would obviously be praising the Lord, but what does the Bible say those who die do?

The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.” Psalms 115:17 (KJV)

For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. 19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.” Isaiah 38:18-19 (KJV)

Mrs. Awolowo is dead and she can’t praise God. Only the Living can perform that role.

  1. Why will many people perish?

Even him (the Anti-Christ), whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” 2 Thess 2:9-12 (KJV)

Just imagine how many souls would have gullibly accepted the claim of Pastor Adeboye in regard to Mrs. Awolowo. A national News Paper carried it and millions would have read it and accepted his claim, especially the members of his Church who are not reading their Bible but busy accepting what their Pastor says. Many will be lost not because they don’t have means to the truth, but because they don’t want to receive the Love of the truth.

No wonder the Bible said, in regard to this kind of people:

“Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. . . My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge” Hosea 4:1, 6 (KJV)

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Cor 4:3-4 (KJV)

Only those who accept the truth of the scripture as authoritative will escape the snare of Satan. But those who do not study their Bible (KJV especially, unless one wants to make comparison) the god of this world will surly blind their mind and lead them onto delusion.

“For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.” Isaiah 38:18 (KJV)

CONCLUSION:

No one, apart from those whom the Bible made mention of, is in Heaven. Enoch, Moses, Elijah and those special resurrected people who rose with Christ. (See the following for references: Gen 5:24, 2 Kings 2:1-11, Matt 17:3, 27:53, Jude 9).

MAY WE NOT BE DECEIVED BY THE LIES OF FALSE PRPOHETS WHO APPEAR IN SHEEP CLOTHINGS? AMEN
