Am about receiving some criticism for this article. Well, i will humbly welcome them. At least some celebrities are beginning to realize the TRUTH BEHIND MAKE-UP while God’s professed people are ignorant about the truth. People like Alicia Keys are serious about the MAKEUP FREE MOVEMENT while others are busy parading their fake beauty. According to June 27, 2016, The star arrived to the BET Awards without any visible makeup on her face — and though her makeup artist hinted that she may have been wearing “#nomakeupmakeup,” Keys was radiant, glowing and looked incredibly comfortable in her skin.

Keys said:

“I hope to God it’s a revolution. ‘Cause I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”

ee99e966b2ebbc27b0075741606ac429_89875290_aliciakeys976_2Isn’t she beautiful without makeup?

Even though i may not accept her use of Jewelries, wearing of seductive immodest dresses, and some other lifestyles. But who am i to condemn her? I am not writing this article to condemn anyone because i am also “a work in progress.” Apart from these things, i am standing behind her on the no make-up movement.

My people lack knowledge

One reason many today are being destroyed is either due to lack of knowledge of the truth or rejection of the truth. Pure truth cuts directly to the root of our selfish desires. The Spirit of God, through Prophet Hosea, said:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Hosea 4:6.

The only way to know truth is to know Jesus Christ. The only way to know Jesus Christ is to receive and believe the word of God. The word of God is not the word of men as some believe it to be.

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17. The words of the Lord in the mouth of His Prophets and Apostles of Old were regarded as truth. (see. 1 Kings 17:24).

Salvation will come by knowing and doing the truth that is in Jesus Christ. But they that hate the truth and “loved darkness . . . because their deeds were evil,” “God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” John 3:19; 2 Thess. 2:11-12.

The Late Evangelist, Mark Woodman, said:

“Truth is Independent of your opinion or my opinion. Truth is also intolerant of error. Every aspect of a truthful message stimulates the conscience and requests acknowledgement. The individual however, holds the key to accept or reject that message.”

The truth about facial make-ups or cosmetics and jewelries . . . will quicken you to make positive reformation or changes. The role of the Holy Spirit is to convict the conscience and empower you to make positive choices, but you hold the key to accept or reject the message that comes to you. The truth about facial make-up (OR cosmetics) for this last generation will stimulates your conscience and requests your acknowledgment, therefore be prepared to accept it as it comes. Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower you to make positive decision. It will be very difficult of choose the right if the heart is not fully surrendered to Christ.

Like any other WHY questions that I have asked over the years, I often ponder on this one question: Why do most women wear make-ups when it is condemned in the Bible?

Both believers and unbelievers, young and old, wear make-ups. Yet only few know their origin and history. Even those who claim to accept the authority of the Bible seems to know nothing about it. They are ignorant of what the Bible say about facial make-ups.

Those who are seeking to live godly and chaste life will ask:

“What is the truth about makeup? Does the Bible approve the use of make-ups? Is the use of makeup wrong or is it a sin? What principles in the Bible are we to apply?” We will begin by briefly looking up the definition of cosmetics and make-ups, the origin, the multi-billion dollar business, health implications and what the Bible has to say about it. In future articles we will be looking into the subject of Jewelries from the Bible.

Definition of Make up

According to Encyclopedia Britannica,

Cosmetic is any of several preparations (excluding soap) that are applied to the human body for beautifying, preserving, or altering the appearance or for cleansing, colouring, conditioning, or protecting the skin, hair, nails, lips, eyes, or teeth.[1]

In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates cosmetics, defines cosmetics as something

“Intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body’s structure or functions”. . . The FDA specifically excludes soap from this category.[2]

I personally define it as follows:

Facial cosmetics or make ups are solely produced and purchased with the aim of altering ones appearance, to compensate for ones perceived deficiency or omission in beauty, to falsify ones beauty by lying to others about what they are not.

It is like saying to God: “I don’t like the way you made me. My lips are not red enough. My eyebrows are not dark enough. My eyelids are not wide enough. You didn’t make my cheek to look more brownish. God you miss this part of my body at creation, you miss that part. You are such an imperfect God. I will make-up for your deficiencies and mistakes.” By doing this, we lack faith in the creative power of God.

In his book, truth about Make-up, Herbert W. Armstrong, gave two general reasons women use make-up

It is put on the face for one or both of two general reasons:

1) to be like the world around you — to be conformed to this world, in direct disobedience to God’s command; or else;

2) “to look nice,” as women express it, which means simply, to change the appearance so as to make the face prettier than it naturally is – which is VANITY! Either is a violation of God’s Law, and a SIN! Actually, the only reason a woman wishes to conform to the world is VANITY – fearing what the world will think, more than fearing God – caring more for the world and what it thinks than for God and what looks right in His sight![3]

A Multibillion dollar Industry

In recent years, consumers have been spending higher levels of disposable income on cosmetics than they had in the past. . . The United State of America is the biggest cosmetic market in the world, with estimated total revenue of about 56.63 billion U.S. dollars and employing about 56,235 people in 2013.[4] The revenue of the U.S. cosmetic industry is estimated to amount to about 62.46 billion U.S. dollars in 2016.[5] The global Cosmetic market was 460 billion U.S dollars in 2014 and is estimated to reach 675 billion U.S. dollars by 2020 growing at a rate of 6.4%. Of the cosmetic products, Skin care has the highest market share while Oral Cosmetics would be the fasted growing market during the forecasted period.[6]

The Entertainment industries have greatly molded our ideology and how we view ourselves. Our cultural values have been diluted by the western culture. When you carefully study the women in the entertainment industry (which include; music, movies, fashion, and TV presenters) you see these stars living the fast lane but they don’t look good at all when they aren’t wearing fake hair extensions and weave or putting on make-ups. Another thing to add is that women of our generation are even teaching their children how to wear makeup or allowing their daughters to put this crap on… That shows how shallow we have become in these times.

In the future articles, we will be looking briefly on the History, Bible, Health implications and alternatives.
